WEST POINT, N.Y. - The 24th-ranked Army West Point women's lacrosse took down archrival No. 20 Navy by a score of 17-12 from a rainy Michie Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The contest was part of the Army-Navy Star Series presented by USAA, with the win also clinching the overall Star Series for Army with a 14-12 score, marking the first time since 2013-14 that Army has outright won the series.

Army used a fast start, jumping out to a 7-0 lead to have control from the opening draw to final whistle.

Allison Reilly paced the Black Knights with six goals and eight points while Brigid Duffy had an all-around stellar game with four ground balls, four caused turnovers and nine draw controls to go along with two points.

Lindsey Serafine made nine saves in goal for the Black Knights to earn her third career win over the Mids.

After losing the opening draw, Lily Valentini quickly caused a turnover which resulted in a Gabrielle Mirak score within the first minute to put Army ahead, a lead in which the Black Knights would not look back from.

Defense was the story despite Army scoring seven goals in the opening frame, as Navy was held to five shots while having five turnovers in the first 15 minutes.

Ryan Remaly made it 2-0 with an unassisted tally before scores from Reilly and Duffy made it 4-0 midway through the frame. Army built on its lead with Mirak and Reilly scoring their second while Chloe Garrett added her first.

The Mids got on the board with seven seconds left in the frame and Army took a 7-1 lead into the second.

Navy scored twice in the second frame, but each goal was answered by an Army score to take a 10-4 scoreline into halftime. Alyce Smith notched her first goal of the season from the eight-meter with Reilly scoring the second and assisting Valentini on the third.

Army played well with its lead in the third quarter, splitting the draw control evenly in the frame while allowing just one Navy goal while building the lead out to 14-5.

Reilly took over an assist to Smith to begin the second half scoring before depositing two more tallies of her own to push Army ahead further. The junior logged her sixth goal of the game early in the final frame which gave Army a 15-6 advantage.

Navy did the majority of its damage with the game out of reach in the fourth with seven of the 12 goals accounted for in the final 13:07 of play.

Mirak and Garrett added late scores with the Mids using their goaltender as a defender while pressuring the ball, as the 17 goals marked the most that Army has ever scored in a game against Navy.

The win marks the third time in four seasons that Army has won the star in the series, with the Black Knights improving to 4-2 against the Mids in the Michelle Tumolo era.
