The Navy track and field team swept the 2025 Army-Navy Indoor Star Meet which is part of the overall Army-Navy Star Series presented by USAA.

The men's team posted a 99-82 victory, while the women's team claimed a 94-87 win at the Gillis Field House in West Point, N.Y.

It was the sixth consecutive indoor victory in the series for both the men and women teams. The Midshipmen have now won 22-straight indoor / outdoor Star competitions over the Black Knights.

"This victory says a lot about our team and our ability to win. We did a good job competing when we needed to compete and winning those close battles," stated Director of Track and Fiield Jamie Cook. "We knew Army would be strong in some areas. All we could control is what we do, our coaches had the athletes prepared and ready to compete. I'm very proud of our coaching staff and obviously our student-athletes."

The men's team extended its lead in the series to 37-27-2. The Mids won nine of 17 events, earning maximum points in six by placing first and second in an event.

Army won the hammer throw to jump out to a quick 7-4 lead.

Nathan Kent was the winner of two events in the 200m and 400m to score a combined 10 points. The Rocklin, Calif., native clocked in a time of 21.52 in the 200m. Kent was .03 seconds from tying a meet record that he set last year. In the 400m he beat fellow Midshipmen Simon Alexander by .69 seconds with a time of 49.70.

Navy earned maximum points in the 500m with team captain Jacques Guillaume and Peter deJonge took 1-2 respectively. Guillaume took first place for the second consecutive meet with a time of 1:04.07, deJonge followed as he clocked a time of 1:05.97 to secure the eight points.

The Mids dominated the distance events taking 1-2-3 in the 1,000m, mile and 3,000m events.

Freshman Dane Eike won his first collegiate event in the 1,000m with a season best time of 2:26.67. Fellow freshman James Partlow (2:26.85) and sophomore Aidan Eberhardt (2:28.06) trailed Eike to secure the sweep.

Luke Nester led the pace in the mile event with a top time of 4:08.39 for Navy's first five points of the day. Freshman Patrick Gandini (4:08.55) clocked in .16 seconds behind Nester for three points while Justin Mumford placed third with a time of 4:10.11.

Senior Murphy Smith followed his program record setting performance in his last outing in the 3,000m run by setting a Gillis Field House record of 8:07.66. Smith took control of the race at the 1,800m mark when he passed Alexander Kirkland for first place and never looked back. Jackson Nguyen crossed the line shortly after Smith with a time of 8:08.86.

Freshman Aiden Cartier clocked his best 60m hurdles time of 8.47 to lead the Mids in the event.

Navy secured the victory by sweeping the relay events. The quartet of Peter deJonge, Simon Alexander, Jay Evans and Jacques Guillaume won the 4x400m with a time of 3:17.13. Army was leading the race going into the final lap but Guillaume overtook Chad Dohl to secure the meet with an additional five team points.
