WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Army West Point women's tennis team earned a 5-2 victory over Navy to earn a star in the Army-Navy Star Series, presented by USAA.
The dual began with a back-and-forth affair for the opening doubles point. Army's Stephanie Dolehide and Caroline Vincent cruised to a 6-2 win at No. 1 to set the tempo. After dropping a tiebreaker at No. 2, Sasha Inchauste and Hannah Boubel rallied for a 7-6 (4) tiebreak win of their own at No. 3 to give Army the early 1-0 team lead.
The Black Knights carried that momentum into singles action, as the Cadets jumped out to three victories by straight sets.
Ana Joyner earned Army's second team point with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 1. Paola Bou would follow suit, winning 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4.
The clincher would come at No. 2, with the junior Dolehide storming to a 6-2, 6-4 victory to give Army the Star.
After wins by Katreina Corpuz and Samatha Johns on courts five and six, Vincent would give the Black Knights their fifth point with a three-set win at No. 3.
