Inaugural Women's Lacrosse Star Game at West Point

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The No. 13 Navy women's lacrosse team (10-3, 4-1 Patriot League) travels to West Point, N.Y. for the first ever star game against rival Army West Point (8-5, 2-3 PL).

The opening draw is slated for 3 p.m. as the second half of an Army-Navy lacrosse doubleheader following the men's game at noon.

The game will mark the third meeting between the two programs and the first time that the two teams will compete as part of the annual Army-Navy Star Series presented by USAA.
The Mids and Black Knights have met twice in program history with the Midshipmen earning victories in West Point (W, 11-5) and in Annapolis (W, 22-7). The overall Star Series is tied 9-9-2 with four Stars (men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, men's tennis, and baseball) up for grabs.
 
ARMY (8-5, 2-3 Patriot League)
• The Black Knights are coming off a thrilling 12-11 road victory over Lafayette on Saturday.
• Army erased an 8-3 lead versus the Leopards, making it the largest comeback win in program history.
• The Cadets are the second-best team in the Patriot League and 15th nationally in terms of draw controls per game with 15.23.
• Army has the most balanced attack with a Patriot League-high eight double-digit goal scorers on the season.
• Samantha Stewart sports the eighth-best free position percentage in the nation at .692.
• Maddie Burns' 10.37 goals-against average ranks 27th nationwide.
• Rachel Hornick is one goal and one assist away from posting the program's first 20-20 season.
 
 
#13/12 NAVY (10-3, 4-1 Patriot League)
• The Mids enter the weekend matchup having won five of their last six games, most recently knocking off No. 11 Virginia, 16-13, on Wednesday.
• Navy sports the nation's ninth best scoring offense at 15.77 goals per game.
• The Mids lead the Patriot League and are second nationally in draw controls per game at 16.69.
• Kelly Larkin leads Navy in points (65) and assists (29).
• Jenna Collins and Julia Collins have proved to be vital members of the offense as well, posting 63 points (49 goals, 14 assists) and 52 points (36 goals, 16 assists), respectively.
