The 2018 edition of the Army-Navy Rifle Star Match is set for this Saturday at the Bancroft Hall Rifle Range in Annapolis, Md. The showdown between the No. 13 Mids (3-5, 2-5 GARC) and No. 14 Black Knights (5-8, 2-5 GARC) will begin at 9 a.m.
Army is currently on an eight-match winning streak over the Mids. Last season, the Cadets edged out Navy 5,823-5,788.
Earlier this year in November at the President's Trophy Match, a four-team competition among service academy schools, Army edged Navy by just two points at 5,810-5,808.
Saturday's match will use a unique scoring format in which eight shooters are listed as starters with the top-five scores counting for the final results. The setup is used to test the depth of the rival service academy programs. For NCAA-scoring purposes five-up, four-count scores will be kept as well.
