ARMY-NAVY CUP HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
The Black Knights' 22 shots was the second-most by the team this season.
Rex Epps, Keenan O'Shea and Marcos Arroyo each tallied four shots in the game and combined to put five on goal for Army.
It was the first tie in the 2017 season for the Black Knights and third for the Mids.
Army-Navy Cup has seen two draws and four double-overtime games since it first began in 2012.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the 25th minute, Justin Stoll made a key save for the Black Knights when he dove to deny a Daniel Zaremba, one of Navy's leading scorers, shot.
- Army had several quality scoring chances, including a shot by Arroyo that rocketed off the crossbar in the 58th minute of action. The ball remained near the box and less than 30 seconds later, Alex Grave de Peralta took aim and fired, but Mac Burke, the Navy goalkeeper, picked up the save.
- In the second overtime period, the Black Knights saw one of their best scoring opportunities fall short. Christian Takaki rifled a shot at Burke, but the Navy keeper was unable to control it and it trickled back into play. However, still on the ground, Burke was able to make another stop on an O'Shea strike, before O'Shea got another rebound touch that sailed high of the net.
