Women's Cross Country Star Goes to Army

WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. - Led by junior Abby Halbrook, the women's cross country team defeated Navy, 27-28, on Saturday morning to take the Star at Bowdoin Park.

The Army-Navy Star Series, presented by USAA, was 3-0-1 in favor of the Black Knights after the women's victory. The Black Knights finished in three of the top six spots to edge the Mids.

Army's Abby Holbrook captured the individual title with a time of 19:33.80, while teammate Bethany Nunnery took second at 19:36.90.

The Mids took the next three spots with Ali Valenti clocking in at 19:41.10 for third and Grace West finishing fourth at 20:01.90. Emily Craig finished fifth with a time of 20:02.10. 

The star came down to the race for the eighth spot in the order and Mika Andrews of Army narrowly defeating Navy's Rachel Fairbanks. Andrews beat Fairbanks by eight-tenths of a second to secure the Star for the Black Knights.
