Army Golf Leads Navy After Day One

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Through the first day of the Army-Navy Golf Star Match, the Black Knights hold a 2.5-1.5 lead over the Midshipmen. Army completed the foursomes portion of the match and will perform in the individuals segment tomorrow beginning at approximately 8:30 a.m.

"After a tough and windy day, we are happy with the lead," said Army head coach Chad Bagley. "We had some clutch performances down the stretch and that's a credit to the mental toughness of our players. We know it's going to be another grind tomorrow and are excited to watch our guys compete."

"Our guys played with a lot of heart today, and two of the matches came down to the last putt on the 18th hole," said Navy head coach Pat Owen. "All of the matches were close today. We look forward to an exciting day of singles tomorrow."

For Tomorrow
The Black Knights and Midshipmen return to the Naval Academy Golf Course tomorrow for the individuals portion of the match. Sunday's seven singles competitions will conclude the first installment of the 2017-18 Army-Navy Star Series presented by USAA. The first head-to-head match is scheduled to tee off at 8:15 a.m. on Sunday morning. The 2017 men's golf Star will go to the first team to earn six points.
