Track and Field Prepares for a Two-Star Weekend

MEET SCHEDULE

ANNAPOLIS, Md. --
The Army-Navy Star Series, presented by USAA, continues Saturday as the Army West Point men's and women's track and field teams travel to Annapolis, Md., to face the Midshipmen in the annual outdoor meet at Ingram Field.

WOMEN
The track meet starts with the hammer throw at 10:50 a.m. at Hospital Point. The Army-Navy Outdoor Star Meet continues with the pole vault, the long jump, the javelin, and the shot put, starting at 2:15 p.m. The triple jump will follow the long jump, while the high jump will follow the javelin. The discus is set to begin at the conclusion of the shot put.

The running events begin at 2:45 p.m. with the 3000m steeplechase. The 4x100m relay begins at 3:00 p.m., followed by the 1500m (3:10 p.m.) and the 100m hurdles (3:20 p.m.) The 400m dash, 100m dash, and 800m dash occur at 3:30 p.m., 3:40 p.m., and 3:50 p.m., respectively. At 4:00 p.m., the teams will participate in the 400m hurdles before moving on to the 200m dash at 4:10 p.m. The day winds down with the 5000m at 4:20 p.m. before concluding with the 4x400m relay at 4:40 p.m.

Navy holds a slight 16-14 (.533) edge in the all-time series, which has taken place every year since 1987. The Mids hold a 9-5 (.643) advantage in meets in Annapolis.

MEN

The field events start on Saturday morning with the hammer throw beginning at 10:00 a.m. The pole vault and the long jump follow at 11:15 a.m. with the shot put taking place at 11:30 a.m. The javelin and high jump are set for 11:45 a.m. with the triple jump at 12:30 p.m. The field events conclude with the discus at 1:00 p.m.

The running events get started at noon with the steeplechase. The 4x100m relay follows at 12:15 p.m. with the 1500m starting at 12:25 p.m. The 110m hurdles are set to begin at 12:35 p.m., followed by the 400m and 100m dashes. At 1:05 p.m., the Army-Navy Outdoor Star Meet continues with the 800m run. The 400m hurdles take place at 1:15 p.m., followed by the 200m dash. The final two events of the day are the 5,000m run and the 4x400m relay.

Navy leads the all-time series between the two teams, 46-44 (.511). The Midshipmen have a slight, 22-21 (.512) advantage in meets held in Annapolis.

The two teams will be battling for a coveted star as part of the annual Star Series presented by USAA. the Mids currently lead 9-8 in the 2016-17 standings with six events remaining as the Black Knights took home the two Stars in the indoor event.
