Highlights
"Gridiron Grudges: Army-Navy" will include broadcast highlights and memories of the 1963 game played after the assassination of President Kennedy, as well as highlights from recent games in 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015, all of which have been decided by seven points or less.
Quotes
Roger Staubach on the appeal of the Army-Navy game extending to fans who never attended one of the academies:
Staubach: "I think there are a lot of people watching the game that didn't go to West Point or Navy, because they were in the service and they kind of know what these young men in the game, and these young men and women who graduate, what their responsibilities are for us and our country."
Rollie Stichweh on the emotion surrounding the 1963 game that followed the death of President Kennedy:
Stichweh: "[President Kennedy] was a favorite not only of the Navy folks but those of us at West Point. So that was devastating for the whole country and certainly for our teams. We didn't know if they were going to play the game at all and then the Kennedy family did say he would want that game played. It was delayed one week and we did play it. So it wasn't just going into an extremely important football game but the overall context of the president being assassinated and the country going through a really serious grieving period there, including all of us, that made it even more dramatic."
