Navy Football Receives Votes In Both Polls But Still Can’t Crack Top 25

The Navy football team (7-2, 5-1 and in first place in the AAC West Division) received 43 voting points in the latest Coaches Poll (27th most) and 20 voting points in the Associated Press poll (30th most) released today.

 
The Mids six FBS wins have come against opponents with a combined record of 31-29 (.517) including wins over Houston (8-2), Memphis (6-4) and Tulsa (7-3) plus a win over Power 5 member Notre Dame (4-6).
 
Among Group of Five teams ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 is #14 Western Michigan (10-0), #22 Boise State (9-1), #24 San Diego State (9-1) and #25 Troy (8-1).
 
Western Michigan's nine FBS wins have come against opponents with a combined record of 38-53 (.418) and the Broncos have defeated one team with a winning record, Eastern Michigan (6-4).
 
Boise State's nine FBS wins have come against teams with a combined record of 42-48 (.467).  The Broncos have defeated three teams with a winning record, Power 5 Washington State (8-2), New Mexico (7-3) and BYU (6-4).
 
San Diego State's eight FBS wins have come against teams with a combined record of 25-56 (.309). They have not defeated an FBS team with a winning record this year.
 
Troy's seven FBS wins have come against teams with a combined record of 28-40 (.412). The have defeated two FBS teams with a winning record, Idaho (6-4) and Appalachian State (7-3).
 
Houston received the 26th most votes in the Associated Press poll, while USF has received the 34th most.
 
In the coaches poll, Western Michigan is ranked 21st, while Boise State is 23rd and San Diego State is 25th.  Houston received the 26th most votes, USF the 28th most votes, Troy the 30th most votes and Toledo the 35th most votes.
